We've watched our son in the years since he left The Common School. He's branched out, of course, but his natural base of operations is still his circle of friends, some younger, some older, from The Common School. It is a very special, very powerful community."

Diversity

The Common School celebrates difference. As a committed educational community of children and adults, we are challenged to create true inclusion, to develop an age-appropriate sense of social responsibility, and to empower us all to change some part of our own worlds. In this effort we hope to achieve a richness and breadth in our school community that will celebrate the excitement of life in a multicultural world.

Parent Involvement

In each classroom and across the school, we work to have children build a sense of community together. The same is true in our larger community of adults. We value family participation in all aspects of Common School life. Throughout the year, the school hosts a variety of activities where children and families can participate and have fun together. We believe that parents are our partners in providing an education for their children.

Parent volunteers provide regular assistance in classrooms, in the library, on Board Committees, and in organizing special events and fundraising activities. An Annual Fund drive is organized and supported by parents to help sustain and strengthen the School’s programs.
